Service Description

“Level Up" is 6-Week Pottery Wheel Drills Intensive Course Looking to ”level up” on the wheel? Feel confident and find your rhythm? Welcome to a 6-week intensive course designed exclusively for those who already have basic wheel experience but want to build real confidence, muscle memory, and mastery. This is not a project class. We aren’t making matching mug sets, we aren’t decorating, we aren’t even firing or glazing. This class is an absolute deep dive into form, technique, and process. By stripping away the pressure of producing a finished piece, you are completely free to experiment, fail, learn, and grow. Above all, this class is about detachment—learning to love the wheel, embrace the mess, and become completely okay with letting a piece go in the name of progress. You will leave this intensive with sharper intuition, stronger muscles, and the confidence that you control the clay, not the other way around. The Details: Skill Level: Previous wheel throwing experience is required; you must already know the basics of centering and pulling - it’s ok if this is more theory then actual ability. Focus: Pure mechanics, muscle memory, and technical growth. What to Bring: A hand towel, clothes that can get muddy, and a willingness to smash your work back into the reclaim bucket! Things we will be doing. The Progress Metric: Throw a 1.5 lb piece on Day 1 and save it, so on the final day, you’ll throw that same weight and see the tangible, undeniable evolution of your technique. Timed Drills: Racing the clock to force your brain to stop overthinking and let your muscle memory take over. Studio Competitions: Friendly, low-stakes battles for the tallest cylinder, the widest bowl, and the most perfectly even walls. Sensory Training: Throwing blindfolded to learn how to center and lift entirely by feel, not just by sight. The Reality Check: Cutting your work completely in half to analyze your wall thickness, floor depth, and where your technique is succeeding (or lagging). Scaling Up: Deconstructing the physical and technical shifts required to move from 1.5 lbs to 2 lbs, and beyond. The Full Cycle: Mastering advanced wedging techniques and learning how to efficiently reclaim your own thrown clay—because a sustainable practice starts at the wedge table. Have fun & laugh all while you "Level Up" Clay cost extra = $42 + gst/bag You need to bring: -basic pottery tools -medium towel (optional but great for over your lap) -apron (optional)
